The Four Key Aartis
चार प्रमुख आरतियां
Mangla, Shringar, Sandhya and Shayan - four moments of Lord Krishna's day
Mangla means auspicious. The temple opens at 6:30 AM with the Mangla Aarti - conches, bells and lamps as the Lord is lovingly woken. The Mangla Darshan that follows (7:00 to 8:00 AM) is usually the calmest darshan of the day. Reach the temple a little before 6:30 AM.
After the morning bath (Abhishek, 8:00-9:00 AM), the Lord is dressed and decorated with fresh clothes, jewellery and flowers. "Shringar" means adornment. The aarti runs from 10:30 to 10:45 AM. Darshan opens again at 11:20 AM after the Gwal Bhog.
"Sandhya" means dusk. Lamps, incense, conches and bells fill the temple. It runs from 7:30 to 7:45 PM. The temple gets crowded early, so arrive by 6:45 PM. You can also watch it on the official live stream below.
"Shayan" means to rest. The Lord is put to rest with soft prayers and lamps. It runs from 8:30 to 8:35 PM and is quieter than the Sandhya Aarti. If you stay overnight, attend the Shayan Aarti and return for the Mangla Aarti next morning.
