What Puja to Do at Each Char Dham - Rituals Explained Simply
Many pilgrims travel thousands of kilometres to reach the Char Dham - and then stand in the darshan queue without knowing what to do when they finally reach the sanctum.
This guide is for you. It tells you simply - what to do, what to say, what to offer, and what to avoid at each of the four Dhams. You do not need to be a Sanskrit scholar. You do not need an expensive pandit. You just need to know the basics - and come with a full heart.
पत्रं पुष्पं फलं तोयं यो मे भक्त्या प्रयच्छति । तदहं भक्त्युपहृतमश्नामि प्रयतात्मनः ॥
Patram pushpam phalam toyam, yo me bhaktyaa prayachchhati | Tadaham bhakty-upahritam, ashnaami prayataatmanah ||
Meaning: Whoever offers Me a leaf, a flower, a fruit or water with devotion - I accept that offering made with love by the pure-hearted devotee.
- Bhagavad Gita 9.26 - Lord Krishna to Arjuna
God does not ask for expensive rituals. A leaf offered with love is enough. But knowing the right rituals makes the experience deeper and more complete.

About 200 meters from the main Badrinath Temple, on the bank of the Alaknanda river, there is a flat rock platform called Brahma Kapal. This is considered one of the most powerful places in India for performing pind daan - the ritual for peace and liberation of departed ancestors.
If you have lost a parent, grandparent or any loved one, performing the pind daan at Brahma Kapal is believed to give them immediate peace and liberation from the cycle of rebirth. Many people make the entire Badrinath journey specifically for this puja.
